Matija Bitenc to lead Geoplin for the next five years
At yesterday's General Meeting of Geoplin d.o.o. Ljubljana, the shareholders appointed Matija Bitenc General Manager of Geoplin for a five-year term of office starting on 5 January 2024. Mr Bitenc has led Geoplin as General Manager from October 2022 and at the same time he was a member of the Management Board of Petrol d.d., Ljubljana, Geoplin’s parent company. Recently, he decided to devote fully to leading Geoplin, Slovenia’s largest natural gas supplier with nearly 50 years of tradition. The company has been expanding its business to the region and beyond in the past decade.
After receiving the shareholders’ trust to lead Geoplin for the next five years, Matija Bitenc told us: “Natural gas is one of the key energy products on our way to green transition. Geoplin’s mission thus remains reliable supply of natural gas to its customers at competitive prices. In line with the recently adopted company’s strategy, Geoplin will continue to supply natural gas and at the same time foster its strategic and development role in the green transition. We are convinced that Geoplin, as one of the leading players in the developing markets of biomethane and hydrogen technologies, has a high potential to further grow and develop as a company. And we intend to make that happen."
Simon Urbancl remains a member of Geoplin’s Management.
