Geoplin increased natrual gas supply from Algeria
Geoplin, the largest Slovenian natural gas supplier, signed an annex to the existing natural gas supply contract with Algeria's Sonatrach during a side-event of today's ceremony in Algiers dedicated to the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Algeria.
By signing the agreement, Geoplin and Sonatrach are increasing the quantities of natural gas that will flow to Slovenia through the gas pipelines connecting Algeria and Slovenia via Italy. The agreement marks a new milestone in the already strong ties between Slovenia and Algeria in the energy sector.
The signing of the agreement is of strategic importance for Geoplin as well as Slovenia, as it represents an important step towards further reliable supply of natural gas for Slovenian customers.
The agreement is important for Algeria as well. As stated in their press release, with today's agreement, Sonatrach responds to the growing demand for natural gas on the European market and increases its presence on the Slovenian energy market. Cooperation with Geoplin strengthens Algeria's position on the international energy market and is also a clear sign that Algeria and Slovenia are striving to upgrade economic cooperation on a bilateral level, underlined Sonatrach.
