A new contract on natural gas supply to Slovenia is signed

Today at the Strmol Castle, President of the Management Board of Geoplin d.o.o. Ljubljana Boštjan Napast, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom PJSC Alexander Medvedev and Director General of Gazprom Export LLC Elena Burmistrova took part in a ceremonial event related to a signing of mid-term contract for the supply of natural gas to Slovenia.

The event took place in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Slovenia Karl Erjavec and of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Slovenia Doku Zavgaev.

The annual volume of deliveries of natural gas under the contract is 600 million cubic meters.

The contract is valid from January 1, 2018 to January 1, 2023

This ceremonial event is yet another proof of our good long-term cooperation with Gazprom. Today’s contract presents valuable strategic alliance. Our trustworthy partnership with Gazprom guarantees our company and Slovenia a stable natural gas supply in the future,” emphasized Boštjan Napast.

"I am pleased that the economic diplomacy contributed to the conclusion of this contract which is important not only for Slovenian households but for Slovenian economy as a whole. Today’s signature of the contract is a proof that Russia remains a reliable supplier of natural gas to Slovenia,"said Karl Erjavec, Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"This year marks the 40th anniversary of natural gas supply to Slovenia which started in 1978. Geoplin d.o.o. Ljubljana is our longtime partner. I am sure that the new contract for the natural gas supply will strengthen relations between our companies and open a new page in the history of energy cooperation of the two countries", said Alexander Medvedev.

 

Background:

Russian natural gas supply to Slovenia started in 1978.

More than 14 billion cubic meters of natural gas were supplied to Slovenia from 1978 to 2017, including 607,2 million cubic meters in 2017. The previous contract between Gazprom Export and Geoplin d. o. o. Ljubljana expired on December 31, 2017.

The partner of Gazprom Export LLC in Slovenia is Geoplin d.o.o. Ljubljana which was founded in 1975 and is the largest importer of natural gas to the country.
